NEET-UG 2026 Re-Exam Tomorrow: NTA Holds Nationwide Mock Drills; Extreme Security Measures & 'No Leave' Policy Imposed

New Delhi | June 20, 2026: In what is being called an unprecedented security lockdown for a national-level entrance test, the central government and the National Testing Agency (NTA) have pulled out all the stops for tomorrow’s high-stakes NEET-UG 2026 re-examination.

Scheduled for Sunday, June 21, 2026, the re-test will see over 22.79 lakh candidates appearing across 551 domestic and 14 international cities. To ensure a 100% error-free and transparent process following earlier paper-leak controversies, an absolute security blanket has been thrown over examination centres nationwide.

Here are the key security and administrative measures currently underway ahead of tomorrow's mega-exam:

1. Nationwide Mock Drills Today

To guarantee airtight logistics and robust biometric lines, the NTA is running comprehensive mock drills today across all designated centres. Over 2 lakh personnel—including central observers, local police, state administrative squads, and district officials—have been deployed to test the ground readiness. In states like Odisha, security audits are being tightly wrapped up across 132 centres with CAPF squads stationed securely at question paper vaults.

2. Medical Students Denied Leave to Curb "Impersonators"

In a strict, preventative move to eliminate "proxy candidates" or exam-day impersonators, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued a mandatory public notice directing all medical colleges and institutes nationwide to strictly deny leave to existing medical students on June 20 and June 21. Institutions have been told to monitor student attendance and closely sensitize them against participating in illegal exam syndicates.

3. Air Force Jets, Telegram Bans, and Section 163

State administrations are treating the exam with emergency-level seriousness:

  • Airspace & Escorts: In Madhya Pradesh, Air Force jets are being utilized to securely transport question papers to designated hubs, supported on the ground by CRPF escorts and active cyber commandos.

  • Digital Clampdown: Following a High Court nod, the central government has implemented a temporary block on the messaging app Telegram until Monday, June 22, aiming to choke off channels used by paper-leak mafias.

  • Ground Restrictions: Local administrations in sensitive zones, including Dehradun, have slapped Section 163 (formerly Sec 144, barring unauthorized public assembly and loudspeakers) around all test venues.

4. Direct WhatsApp Channel Launched to Fight Rumors

To counter viral social media disinformation and fake leaks, the NTA has launched a verified broadcast-only WhatsApp channel.

Important Note: Students will receive direct, unalterable admit card alerts and venue corrections via WhatsApp. The NTA has strictly advised candidates to look out for the official blue verified tick and warned that the agency will never ask for personal OTPs, banking details, or fees over messaging apps.
