NTA Releases NEET UG 2026 Provisional Answer Key in Record Time; Objection Window to Open Soon

NEW DELHI – In a significant move for over 22 lakh medical aspirants, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer key for the NEET UG 2026 today, May 6, 2026. This year’s release comes just three days after the national entrance exam was conducted on May 3, marking one of the fastest processing timelines in the agency's history.

The provisional answer keys for all question paper sets—Codes 11, 12, 13, and 14—are now available for download on the official websites, neet.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in.

Key Highlights of the Release

  • Fastest Turnaround: The three-day gap between the exam and the answer key release is a sharp reduction compared to previous years, where candidates often waited 24 to 45 days.

  • OMR Sheets Coming Soon: While the answer keys are live, the NTA has stated that scanned OMR answer sheets and recorded responses will be uploaded shortly.

  • Challenge Facility: The objection window will officially open once the OMR sheets are available. Candidates will be able to challenge the provisional keys and their recorded responses online by paying a prescribed processing fee.

Initial Paper Analysis & Student Feedback

The May 3 exam saw an impressive nationwide attendance of approximately 97%. Early reviews from candidates and experts suggest an overall moderate difficulty level, though several students noted the paper was time-consuming:

  • Biology: Rated as the easiest and most scoring section, with questions heavily focused on the NCERT syllabus.

  • Chemistry: Described as moderate, with some students finding the Organic section slightly tricky or calculation-heavy.

  • Physics: Widely considered the most challenging and lengthy section due to a high volume of formula-based, numerical questions.

Expected Results and Cut-offs

The final result for NEET UG 2026 is tentatively expected in mid-June, likely between June 13 and 14, 2026. Based on current trends, the qualifying cut-off percentiles are expected to remain consistent:

  • General/EWS: 50th Percentile (Approx. score range: 144–710).

  • OBC/SC/ST: 40th Percentile (Approx. score range: 113–143).

Candidates are advised to keep their application numbers and passwords ready to download their OMR sheets as soon as the link is activated. Following the resolution of all challenges, the NTA will release the Final Answer Key, which will serve as the basis for the official merit list and results.
