NTA Postpones CUET UG 2026 Exams Scheduled for May 28; Revised Dates Soon

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the postponement of the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) 2026 examinations originally scheduled for May 28, 2026. The decision impacts candidates registered for papers across both shifts on that day.

Reason for Postponement

According to the official public notice issued by the NTA, the adjustments were made following a Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) notification regarding a revision to the gazetted public holiday schedule. The examination date directly conflicted with the rescheduled date for Id-ul-Zuha (Bakrid).

To ensure smooth logistics and hassle-free transit for aspirants nationwide, the agency opted to defer all papers slotted for this particular date.

Scope of the Announcement

  • Affected Date: Only the examinations scheduled for May 28, 2026, stand deferred.

  • Shifts Impacted: Both the forenoon and afternoon shifts for May 28 are postponed.

  • Other Exam Dates: The rest of the CUET UG 2026 exam schedule remains entirely unchanged. Papers before and after May 28 will proceed exactly as per the initial schedule shared on candidates' admit cards.

What Should Candidates Do Next?

The NTA has clarified that revised examination dates for the affected candidates will be announced separately in due course.

Students are advised to:

  1. Monitor Official Portals: Avoid falling prey to social media rumors or unverified circulars. Rely exclusively on updates from the official NTA website (nta.ac.in) and the dedicated CUET UG portal (cuet.nta.nic.in).

  2. Keep Admit Cards Ready: Once the fresh dates are finalized, the NTA will issue notifications regarding updated timetables and city intimation slips if applicable.

  3. Contact Helpdesk for Queries: For immediate clarifications or technical grievances regarding the postponement, candidates can connect with the NTA directly:

    • Helpline Number: 011-40759000

    • Official Email: cuet-ug@nta.ac.in

A Note on the Exam Mode: The remaining shifts of the CUET UG 2026 continue to take place across standard multiple-choice configurations. Candidates are reminded to maintain their preparation momentum, as the marking scheme penalizes incorrect answers with a negative marking deduction of $-1$ mark, while rewarding correct responses with $+5$ marks.
