JEE Main 2026: NTA Set to Release Session 2 City Intimation Slips by March 20; Focus Shifts to April Exams

NEW DELHI, March 16, 2026 – Following the final closure of the special registration window on March 13, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has shifted into high gear for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2. Millions of engineering aspirants are now awaiting the release of the Exam City Intimation Slips, which are officially expected to be available on the portal by March 20, 2026.

This document is a critical precursor to the admit card, allowing students to finalize their travel and accommodation plans well in advance of the prestigious national-level entrance test.

Key Exam Schedule: April 2026

The NTA has reaffirmed the timeline for the second and final session of the year:

  • Exam Dates: April 2 to April 9, 2026.

  • Mode of Exam: Computer-Based Test (CBT).

  • Shifts: Two shifts daily (9:00 AM – 12:00 PM and 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM).

  • City Intimation Release: Expected by March 20.

  • Admit Card Release: Tentatively scheduled for March 29–30, or 3 days prior to the individual's exam date.

How to Access Your City Slip

Once the link is activated at jeemain.nta.nic.in, candidates can follow these steps:

  1. Visit the official NTA JEE Main website.

  2. Click on the link "Advance City Intimation for JEE (Main) 2026 Session 2."

  3. Log in using your Application Number and Date of Birth (or Password).

  4. Download and print the slip, which will display your Allotted City and Specific Exam Date.

Important Note: The City Intimation Slip is not the Admit Card. It does not contain your specific exam center address or shift timing—those details will only be provided on the final hall ticket.

Why the City Slip Matters This Year

With the record-breaking number of applicants this year—estimated to exceed 1.3 million for Session 2—the NTA is utilizing a vast network of centers. Aspirants are advised that:

  • No City Change Requests: The NTA has clarified that once a city is allotted based on the student's preference, no requests for changes will be entertained under any circumstances.

  • "Best of Two" Stakes: Session 2 is the final opportunity for students to improve their scores. The NTA will use the higher of the two NTA scores (Session 1 vs. Session 2) for the final All India Ranking (AIR), which determines eligibility for JEE Advanced (IIT entrance).

Preparation Alert

As the countdown begins, experts recommend that students focus on the "Lengthy and Moderate" nature of Mathematics and the "Conceptual" depth of Physics, as seen in the Session 1 trends from January.

For any technical assistance or discrepancies in registration data, candidates can reach the NTA Helpdesk at 011-40759000 or email jeemain@nta.ac.in.
