Breaking News: NEET-UG 2026 Cancelled; CBI to Probe Paper Leak Allegations

Following intense scrutiny and mounting evidence of irregularities, the Central Government has taken a major decision regarding the NEET-UG 2026 medical entrance exam. The examination, which was conducted on May 3, 2026, has been officially cancelled, and the investigation has been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

Official Decision by the NTA

The National Testing Agency (NTA) announced the cancellation on Tuesday after receiving critical inputs from various investigative agencies.

  • Integrity Compromised: The agency stated that the sanctity of the exam could no longer be guaranteed following widespread allegations of a paper leak.

  • Re-Examination: The NTA will announce a fresh date for the re-conduct of NEET-UG 2026 shortly.

  • No Extra Fee: Candidates will not be required to pay any additional examination fees for the re-test; existing registration data will remain valid.

Key Reasons Behind the Cancellation

The decision follows a series of alarming reports from multiple states:

  • 'Guess Paper' Controversy: Reports emerged of "guess papers" circulating on social media and messaging apps prior to the exam, which allegedly contained several questions identical to the actual test.

  • Rajasthan SOG Raids: The Special Operations Group (SOG) in Rajasthan conducted raids in areas like Sikar, detaining several individuals suspected of being part of a "solver gang".

  • Financial Evidence in Bihar: Investigating authorities in Bihar reportedly recovered post-dated cheques, indicating a significant financial trail between paper brokers and candidates' families.

Impact on Aspirants

This decision impacts approximately 2.3 million students who appeared for the exam across the country. While the move causes immediate uncertainty, the government has emphasized that a re-exam is necessary to ensure a fair and transparent selection process for future medical professionals.

Note to Students: Candidates are advised to keep their admit cards safe and regularly check the official portal at exams.nta.ac.in/NEET for the new schedule and further instructions.
