NTA Invites Online Applications for UGC NET June 2026; Registration Portal Now Open

NEW DELHI – The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially commenced the online registration process for the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) June 2026 cycle. Aspiring candidates looking to qualify for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)’ can now submit their applications through the official portal.

According to the official notification, the application window will remain active until May 20, 2026. Candidates are advised to complete their registration well in advance to avoid any last-minute technical delays.

How to Apply for UGC NET June 2026

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

  2. Registration: Click on the "New Registration" link and enter basic details to generate an Application Number and Password.

  3. Fill Application Form: Log in and complete the form with educational qualifications and contact details.

  4. Upload Documents: Upload scanned copies of your photograph and signature as per the specified dimensions.

  5. Fee Payment: Pay the examination fee using Debit Card, Credit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.

  6. Confirmation: Download and print the confirmation page for future reference.


Eligibility and Exam Pattern

The UGC NET June 2026 exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. It consists of two papers:

  • Paper I: General paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude (50 questions, 100 marks).

  • Paper II: Subject-specific paper based on the candidate's post-graduation (100 questions, 200 marks).

  • Total Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes) without any break.

Important Note for Applicants

Candidates must ensure they meet the minimum eligibility criteria, which generally requires at least 55% marks (50% for reserved categories) in their Master’s degree. Those currently in the final year of their Master's program are also eligible to apply provisionally.
