JEE Main 2026 Session 2: Result and Final Answer Key Expected by April 20

New Delhi | April 18, 2026 — The wait for over 11.23 lakh engineering aspirants is nearly over. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is expected to declare the results for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 on or before Monday, April 20. Along with the results, the NTA will release the final answer key, which will serve as the definitive basis for score calculation and the All India Merit List.

The Session 2 examinations were conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode from April 2 to April 8, 2026, across 304 cities in India and 14 cities abroad.

Final Answer Key: The Last Step Before Results

Following the challenge window that concluded on April 13, subject experts have completed the review of all objections raised by candidates.

  • No Further Challenges: Unlike the provisional key, the final answer key is not open to challenges.

  • Score Computation: The final NTA scores will be calculated strictly based on this revised key.

  • Dropped Questions: If any questions are "dropped" due to technical errors or multiple correct options, full marks will be awarded to all candidates who appeared in that specific shift (for Section A) or to those who attempted it (for Section B).

What to Expect in the Scorecard

The Session 2 result is the most critical update of the year as it consolidates performance from both January and April sessions.

  • Best of Two Scores: For candidates who appeared in both sessions, the NTA will consider the higher of the two total NTA scores for the final ranking.

  • All India Rank (AIR): The scorecard will feature the candidate’s AIR and category-specific ranks.

  • JEE Advanced Cut-off: The result will specify the qualifying percentile required to register for JEE Advanced 2026.

Important Dates for Post-Result Activities

Once the results are live, the transition to the next phase of admissions will be rapid:

  • JEE Advanced Registration: Expected to begin on April 23, 2026.

  • JoSAA Counselling: Registration and choice filling for IITs, NITs, and IIITs are scheduled to start from June 2, 2026.
