Karnataka Engineering Admissions 2026: KEA Releases Final Schedule as JEE Main & KCET Dual-Pathways Begin

BENGALURU – April 15, 2026

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has officially set the stage for the 2026 engineering admission cycle, releasing the finalized schedule for the Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET). This year, the landscape for engineering aspirants is marked by a clear "dual-track" strategy, with top-tier state institutions increasingly integrating JEE Main performance alongside traditional state-level scores.

KCET 2026: Key Dates & Hall Ticket Updates

The KEA has confirmed that the KCET 2026 will be conducted in a pen-and-paper (OMR) format on April 23 and 24, 2026.

  • Admit Cards: Hall tickets were officially released on April 10, 2026, and are currently available for download via the KEA portal.

  • Kannada Language Test: Scheduled for April 22 for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates.

  • Results: The evaluation is expected to be completed by late May, with results tentatively slated for June 30, 2026.

The JEE Main Integration

While KCET remains the primary gateway for government quota seats, several premier Karnataka institutions are now streamlining their "All India" and "Management Quota" intakes through JEE Main 2026 scores.

  • NIT Surathkal & IIIT Dharwad: Admissions remain strictly through JoSAA/CSAB based on JEE Main ranks.

  • Private Universities: Institutions like PES University, MS Ramaiah (MSRIT), and RV College of Engineering (RVCE) have outlined clear cut-off brackets for JEE Main qualifiers, targeting students from across India for their non-subsidized seats.

Admission Formula & Competition

KEA will continue with its 50:50 weightage system, where 50% of the rank is determined by the KCET score and 50% by the Class 12 (2nd PUC) board marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM). This system places immense importance on board exam consistency, especially as over 3.15 lakh students have registered for the 2026 cycle.

Institutional Spotlight: Top Colleges

According to the latest 2026 rankings, the following institutes are the most sought-after:

  1. NIT Surathkal (Admission via JEE Main/JoSAA)

  2. RV College of Engineering (RVCE) (Admission via KCET/COMEDK/JEE)

  3. PES University (Admission via PESSAT/KCET/JEE)

  4. BMS College of Engineering (Admission via KCET/COMEDK)

  5. MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology (Admission via KCET/COMEDK/JEE)

Advisory for Candidates

Students are advised to verify their hall tickets immediately. Any discrepancies in personal details or photograph clarity must be reported to the KEA helpdesk before the exam week. Additionally, candidates targeting private universities are encouraged to check individual institutional portals, as many are now opening registration for seats specifically reserved for JEE Main candidates.
