Russia Announces 300 Fully Funded Scholarships for Indian Students for 2026–27

The Government of the Russian Federation has announced 300 fully funded scholarships for Indian students for the 2026–27 academic year, offering opportunities to study at leading Russian universities across a wide range of disciplines.

Who Can Apply?

Indian students interested in:

  • Undergraduate degrees

  • Specialist programmes

  • Postgraduate (Master’s) programmes

  • Doctoral (PhD) programmes

  • Advanced training courses

What the Scholarship Covers

  • Full tuition fee waiver at most Russian universities

  • Exceptions: Lomonosov Moscow State University and MGIMO (not fully covered)

  • Some programmes, including in medicine and engineering, are available in English.

  • Non-Russian speakers may take a one-year Russian language preparatory course before starting their main programme.

Fields of Study

Scholarships are available in over a dozen disciplines, including:
Medicine, pharmacy, engineering, architecture, agriculture, management, economics, humanities, mathematics, space science, aviation, sports, and the arts.

Applications sent through any other channel will not be accepted.

Selection Procedure

Stage 1:

  • Screening based on academic performance

  • Evaluation of supporting documents such as:

    • Research publications

    • Recommendation letters

    • Certificates from Olympiads/competitions

Stage 2:

  • University placement

  • Visa processing handled by Russia’s Ministry of Science and Higher Education

Important Deadline

  • January 15, 2026 – Last date to submit applications for Stage 1.

The Ministry of Education, Government of India, has clarified that it has no role in the nomination or selection of candidates for these scholarships.
