📘 NCERT, IIT Madras Sign MoU to Boost Technological Innovation in Education

New Delhi:
The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT-Madras) to promote technological innovation and collaborative research in education, officials announced.

The partnership aims to leverage cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to enhance accessibility, inclusivity, and quality across the educational ecosystem.

“This collaboration is crucial for realising the vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework (NCF). All educational materials need to be digitised and made available in 22 scheduled languages to support learning in children’s mother tongues,” said School Education Secretary Sanjay Kumar.

He added that IIT Madras, as one of the country’s leading technological institutes, would help develop educational content featuring gamification, animation, videos, and extended reality (XR) to make learning more engaging.

Kumar also emphasised the need for Personalised Adaptive Learning (PAL) systems and the development of AI-driven pedagogical and assessment tools to prepare students for future skills.

According to NCERT Chairman Dinesh Saklani, the collaboration will focus on:

  • Development and dissemination of high-quality educational content

  • Continuous Professional Development (CPD) for teachers

  • Technology integration and AI/ML-enabled learning solutions

  • Collaborative research, big data management, and analytics

  • Promotion of multilingual and inclusive learning platforms

“This collaboration represents a significant step toward realising the vision of NEP 2020 by harnessing technology for accessible and inclusive education,” Saklani said.
